Kurt's Birthday

Here are some of the pictures of the celebrations from Kurt's birthday. First off his birthday started with moon-overs in bed.
Then he opened some presents before we left for school. This is the cake Leah made for Kurt's birthday, when we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Peterson's for dinner and presents with the family. This is Kurt in one of his new shirts from Mama and his Boise State football stadium cake...that didn't quite turn out how it was supposed to, but he still liked it!For part of Kurt's birthday we spent a Saturday in Salt Lake City. We were able to go to the temple and then took some pictures afterward.

Then we went to the Gateway to get a couple more presents for Kurt. This is a picture of us inside the old train station at the Gateway. We also went to the planetarium in Salt Lake, and took some fun pictures: Then we went to dinner at Christopher's Seafood & Steakhouse. It was so fancy and SO good!
This is the first birthday, of Kurt's, that we've celebrated in 3 years, together, so I wanted to make it a good one :)

Our Adventures...

So we've spent so much time trying to update from the wedding, honeymoon, moving out here, that we've neglected what we've been up to for this semester. This is a brief recap of some of our adventures. It has been a wonderful first few months of marriage!!

This is us at the first BYU home game of the year.

We were matching for the first home game, so we wanted to take some pictures when we got home and it was so fun!

One fine Sunday, Kurt and I left our apartment and headed to church. Everything was going great until we realized that neither of us had keys to our apartment. Still looking to be an optimistic couple we thought that we could just ask our apartment manager if he could let us in after church. We began to get a little nervous when we didn't see he and his wife in Sacrament meeting, but sure that we had just missed them, we sent him a text, telling him we had locked ourselves out of our apartment, and that we were hoping he could let us in after church. Well...they were in Idaho for the weekend and wouldn't be home until late that night, so we resorted to this:...And we got in :)
So this was yet another adventure of ours. We found an amazing sale on cereal, Oatmeal Squares and Honey Bunches of Oats for $1!!!! So we just bought a few :)

We got to go to a session of General Conference at the Conference Center. We drove up Sunday morning and watched the first session at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, then we had a nice little picnic on the lawns of temple square, and tried desperately to look like a picture perfect group in order to get in the Ensign. Unfortunately, all the groups around us were better and so we just saw several pictures being taken, but none of us. We had a fun time taking our own pictures though.
This was some of our group of friends and siblings that we sat next to during conference.
Sisters at General Conference together! It was so fun to be there and to even get to sit together. We missed you Kel! (the rest of the family of course, I just meant in terms of sisters)

Our Apartment

It definitely took us quite a while to really get moved in to our apartment, but now that we're all moved in, we LOVE it!!! As you can see there was a lot of work to do, but we've made it into a nice little home.

Kurt cleaning our kitchen. We had to do a lot of cleaning those first few days, before we were even ready to start moving our stuff in, but we made a good cleaning team!
Here are the pictures of our apartment now. It looks a little better than right at first.

Utah Reception

Such a beautiful reception! We loved it!!!

Trip across the Country: Part II

And his response, "Cool, huh?". This is why I love Kurt. I will never, ever have a dull moment in my life!
One night while we were staying at Grandma & Grandpa Peterson's I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed when I heard this horribly bizarre sound coming from the bedroom. I went rushing in thinking that some terrible thing was happening to my husband and I found this scene...
This is us dying on Grandma & Grandpa Peterson's lawn. We had finally made it!!! After almost 32 hours of driving, with only a 2 hour break in San Antonio, gas breaks, and an hour and a half of sleeping in the car at a random CVS parking lot, we had made if from Louisiana to Orem, Utah!
This was just a quick stop on the final stretch. We stopped for a quick break and picture at Arches.
This is the product of Kurt's ingenuity. We did not have access to a printer to print off the directions from San Antonio to Orem, but we just saved them on Kurt's computer, unfortunately the computer died in the middle of New Mexico and we didn't know where to go. Then in the middle of talking to Grandma & Grandpa Peterson our cell phones died. So naturally the only option was to find a gas station and check to see if they had outlets on the outside of the building. He is one smart man!
This was just a little switching break. I was so exhausted from driving, even though Kurt drove most of the time, he was taking a little nap, but then I couldn't drive anymore and there was no where to turn off, but we found a little alcove off of the highway to switch drivers, and wake ourselves up.

This is pure exhaustion. We were so tired by this point, but we just wanted to get to Grandma & Grandpa Peterson's.
This is about how we felt that next morning as we were driving through New Mexico. There wasn't a whole lot to keep us awake, that's for sure.
The dreary road of Texas, during the middle of the night, that both looked and felt like it was never going to end!
